This type of axe is designed for splitting logs or trunk remnants.
The metal part is made of very high-quality #55 carbon steel, heat-treated (hardening + tempering) on a portion of 1/3 from the edge towards the eye of the handle, for much greater wear resistance.
For increased safety during use, the handle is fixed into the metal part by two wedges: a wooden one that forces the wood of the handle towards the sides, and a second, cylindrical metal wedge that is driven over the first one and the wood of the handle to secure them.
With a low weight but a long handle, the material can be cut with a single blow using inertia force.
The handle is made of hardwood, treated and varnished with a clear varnish, which resists both the impact force and moisture.
